What causes kidney cancer?

Doctors do not know the exact cause of kidney cancer, but there are factors that increase the risk of kidney cancer more than other causes. For instance, being an older age is also a risk factor, and those with age 40 are more at risk than adults.

  • Smoking: If you smoke cigarettes, your risk for kidney cancer is twice that of nonsmokers. Smoking cigars also puts you at risk.

  • Being male: Men are twice as likely as women to get caught with kidney cancer.

  • Being obese: Putting on extra weight may cause changes in the hormones that increase kidney cancer risk.

  • Using painkillers or medications for a long time: Consuming over the counter painkillers and prescribed drugs also increase the risk of kidney cancer.

  • Having advanced kidney disease: Being in the advanced stage of chronic kidney disease and taking dialysis may increase the risk of kidney cancer.

  • Having certain genetic conditions: Conditions such as von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease or inherited papillary renal cell carcinoma.

  • Having a family history of kidney cancer. The risk is exceptionally high in the case of blood relatives.

  • Having lymphoma. For some reason, there is likely an increased risk of kidney cancer in patients with lymphoma.

Having these risk factors does not mean you will get kidney cancer for sure, and you also may have kidney cancer because of an unknown reason and need kidney cancer treatment. karma ayurveda consumer complaint
